Bulacan observes National Disaster Resilience Month
CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Governor-elect Daniel R. Fernando led the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in launching various activities in the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month held during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city, Monday morning.
Anchored on the theme “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”, this month’s observance highlights activities that will develop resiliency among Bulakenyos including First Aid @Work for PGB Fire Marshals to be held on July 3-4, 2019 at the PDRRMO Training Room; Earthquake Drill on July 5, 2019 at the PGB Building; Surface Water Rescue Training on July 16-19 at Bakas River in Norzagaray; Basic Collapsed Structure and Basic Aquatic Safety and Rescue Training on July 22-26 at the Bulacan Sports Complex; and 9th Bulacan Rescuelympics on July 30 at the Bulacan Sports Complex.
“We will strengthen every individual’s capability to be disaster resilient especially those in residing at the calamity and disaster-prone communities,” Fernando said.
Meanwhile, Municipalities of Paombong, Plaridel, Balagtas and Doña Remedios Trinidad were awarded rescue equipment for their unwavering support on PDRRMO’s “Ang Bote Mo, Kaligtasan Ko… Buong Taon Na Ito”.
The PDRRMO also conducted a raffle draw for 15 winners of life-saving equipment including flashlight with whistle, first-aid kit with whistle and dry bag.
Also, the PDRRMO-Bulacan Rescue was hailed as the Regional Winner of the Gawad KALASAG Regional Awards 2019-Government Emergency Response Management (GEM) Category given last June 24, 2019 at the Office of Civil Defense 3 Diosdado Macapagal Government, Maimpis City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
“The annual search aims to recognize outstanding performances of Local DRRM Councils/Committees, institutions, organizations, and individuals who have shown acts of heroism before, during, or after a disaster or emergency,” Felicisima Mungcal, head of PDRRMO said.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte issued Executive Order No. 29 dated June 28, 2017 that declares July of every year as the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) in the Philippines wherein from National Disaster Consciousness Month, it became National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).
