CITY OF MALOLOS – Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado has started distributing notebooks and feeding school children through the “Lugaw at Kwaderno Caravan Year 3,” a program of the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office that kicked off yesterday.
Almost 2,000 Bulakenyo school children from F. Mendoza Memorial Elementary School and Pulilan Central School enjoyed their nutritious porridge and expressed their happiness as they received notebooks from the PGB.
Alvarado, who personally led the first day of the feeding caravan, highlighted the importance of proper nutrition in the overall health development of a child and even encouraged the concerned agencies to continue the fight against malnutrition among the young students.
“Nutrition is very important for everyone, but it is especially important for children because it is directly linked to all aspects of their growth and development. Batid natin na ang malusog na pangangatawan ng ating mga kabataan ang isang mahalagang salik sa paglikha ng maunlad na lipunan. Sa pamamagitan ng ganitong programa, sama-sama nating malalabanan ang malnutrisyon sa mga kabataan,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rowena Tiongson reminded the parents of the children to make it a habit to serve nutritious food at home and teach their kids healthy eating habits.
“Tayo pong mga magulang ay may pananagutan sa lipunan na magtulungan upang matiyak na ang ating mga supling ay mabigyan ng pagkakataong lumaking malusog, intelihente at produktibong mga kasapi ng lipunan,” Tiongson said.
Moreover, the Lugaw at Kwaderno Caravan Year 3 is scheduled to visit different public schools including Paombong Central School and Hagonoy West Central on August 12, Malolos Central School and Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary School on August 13, Bustos Central School and Baliwag North Central School on August 14 and other elementary schools in the province.
