Bulacan kicks off Environment Month with a unified approach to sustainability
CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), has officially inaugurated its month-long celebration of Philippine Environment Month this June that features a comprehensive array of activities designed to enhance environmental protection and sustainability efforts throughout the province.
With a focus on promoting environmental awareness and responsible resource management, BENRO’s calendar of events includes technical training sessions, stakeholder engagements, and grassroots programs aimed at mobilizing communities, local governments, and private sector stakeholders.
Key events on the agenda include the Regional Mining Summit, organized by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), scheduled for June 4 to 6 in Orani, Bataan; the Waste Analysis Characterization Study (WACS) Training on June 17–18; and a Capacity Building Workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers (MENROs), Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers (CENROs), and BENRO technical staff on June 19–20.
Additionally, the province will participate in the national observance of Philippine Arbor Day on June 25, which will feature synchronized tree planting and growing activities and BENRO will also engage in the Midyear Convention of the Multisectoral Movement for Environmental Protection (MMEP) on June 28.
Throughout the month, BENRO will implement a variety of initiatives, including Continuous Environment Protection Operations (CEPO), an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign, inspections and monitoring of business establishments, land development projects, and materials recovery facilities. Furthermore, the office will conduct province-wide environmental tagging for various manufacturing facilities and industrial areas across Bulacan.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando underscored that this celebration serves as a vital reminder of the province’s ongoing commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable future.
“Our commitment to the environment must go beyond this month. It should be a daily advocacy for every Bulakenyo,” the governor stressed. ###
