Bulacan joins the nation in the observance of DPRM 2021

CITY OF MALOLOS – To promote public awareness on the importance of policy research in nation-building among Bulakenyos, the Province of Bulacan joins the country in the observance of the 19th Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this coming month of September spearheaded by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) with this year’s theme “Reset and Rebuild for a Better Philippines in the Post-Pandemic World”.

This year’s observance points up the need to reset the accustomed paradigms and practices to be able to rebuild the Philippines after the COVID-19 pandemic and create a better nation by balancing the interests of people, profit or by giving equal importance to economic, social and environmental well-being and sustainability.

As a way of participating and showing support, the PIDS encourages every local government units, agencies, organizations and others to display the physical or electronic banner of the DPRM in their offices or official websites and by following their social media pages for further announcements and updates.

A virtual kick-off forum will also be held on September 2, 2021, 9:00 AM through Cisco Webex which will stream publicly on the Philippine Institute for Development Studies Facebook page and will be attended by panelists from various sectors who will share their insights regarding the topic while the 7th Annual Public Policy Conference (APPC) will be conducted through a four-part webinar series on September 14, 16, 21, and 23, 9:00 AM.

Meanwhile, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando expressed his support for the objectives of the DPRM especially that it tackles effective planning and policymaking which will benefit not only the province but the whole nation.

“Taun-taon ay napakaganda at napakahusay ng layunin ng DPRM; lalo na ngayong taon kung saan ay tatalakayin ng lubusan ang pagsasaayos ng mga pamamaraan sa pagpapabuti ng ating bansa ngayong tayo ay kasalukuyang dumaranas ng pandemya. Mahalagang mabuksan ang kamalayan ng publiko sapagkat ang pagbabago ay nagsisimula sa bawat isa sa atin,” the governor said.

The month of September every year is declared as Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) in accordance to Proclamation No. 247 by Malacañang in September 2002 which underscores the significance of research in the socio-economic development of the country. ###
