CITY OF MALOLOS- As a province that values the welfare of children, Bulacan joins the celebration of the 28th National Children’s Month that seeks to instill its significance in the Filipino consciousness for the whole month of November.
With the theme ‘Sama-samang Itaguyod ang Karapatan ng Bawat Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya!,’ the Council for the Welfare of Children of the Department of Social Welfare and Development said that the observation aims to stimulate advocacy and public information on upholding child rights amid COVID-19.
The province also acknowledges that COVID-19 has disrupted the environments where children thrive and these disruptions affect the rights of the children to survive, develop, to be protected and participate safely and fully.
Daniel R. Fernando reminded the public.
Due to the current situation where mass gatherings are still prohibited, Bulacan joined in NCM weekly online activities including the Talakayang Makabata: The Virtual NCM Press Conference held last week of October and will join in the upcoming activities such as Sabayang Panatang Makabata; Discussion on Survival Rights; Development Rights; Participation Rights; and Protection Rights.
Specifically, Bulakenyos are encouraged to watch and participate in PandeMIC Check, Minding your Mental Health and Survival Gardening Webinars, Film Showing; Children’s Online Talk Show: Makabatang Buhay!; Watch Party on traditional and innovative indoor Fillipino games, Impact of Child Participation (Kwentuhan with Former CWC Child representatives); and Juvenile Justice and Welfare Consciousness Week activities, 3rd Conference on Digital Parenting, and positive discipline online activities through their social media accounts /CWCgovph for Facebook and @CWC_govph for Twitter.
Moreover, the governor said that parents and guardians together with their children can visit the official Facebook page of Bulacan (Provincial Government of Bulacan) for more details.
According to Rowena Joson-Tiongson, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, they are also encouraging daycare workers in the province to participate in the webinars to learn and be able to promote the rights of the children more.
Joson-Tiongson said that Bulakenyos can help promote the NCM by sharing or posting NCM – related advocacy materials on the websites and official social media accounts using the hashtags #2020ChildrensMonth, #YESToPositiveDiscipline, #LoveDoesNotHurt and #LoveIsASafeSpace.###
