Bulacan intensifies contact tracing as Delta variant enters the province

CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 intensified the contact tracing and strengthened the implementation of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) Strategy to prevent the further spread of COVID cases especially now that the more transmissible variant has entered the province.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando confirmed that two cases of COVID Delta variant have entered Bulacan, one in San Ildefonso and one in Santa Maria, during the Damayang Filipino Blood Letting project held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city yesterday.

According to the governor, the asymptomatic case in San Ildefonso has already recovered, while the other one in Santa Maria is still undergoing quarantine.

He encouraged the Bulakenyos to continuously follow the standard health protocols such as wearing of face masks and face shields, practicing of social distancing and frequent washing of hands as those are proven effective ways to minimize the risk of getting any variant of the virus.

Prior to this, even without a record of Delta variant, PTF Response Cluster Head Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis had already laid out the actions mentioned during the PTF Meeting held last Friday, July 23, 2021 to equip the province on the possible spike of cases due to the new variant.

As of yesterday, Bulacan has 1,687 total COVID active cases, 41,272 recoveries, and 938 deaths. ###
