CITY OF MALOLOS – Hundreds of delegates from the provinces of Central Luzon flocked to the Province of Bulacan to participate in the Association of Tourism Officers of Central Luzon (ATOCEL) Regional Conference held last August 24 to 25, 2017.
The delegates who attended the said conference include tourism officers, chairmen of Committee on Tourism, elected officials, government employees, teachers, students and tourism stakeholders from the towns and cities of the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
On the first day of the program that was held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city, Senator Maria Lourdes Nancy S. Binay graced the event as the guest of honor and said that Central Luzon can count on her support particularly on the development and enhancement of the level of tourism in the region.
The Governor’s Night, which was held on the same day, highlighted the talented Bulakenyo youth and artists wherein Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Alma Rita D. Jimenez served as the guest of honor.
Delegates were also given the chance to visit some of Bulacan’s best including the historic Barasoain Church, Museo ng Republika ng 1899 and Museo ng Kasaysayang Pampulitika ng Pilipinas in the City of Malolos; and the Philippine Arena and Stevia Farm in the municipality of Bocaue on the second day.
According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the province of Bulacan is very lucky to be chosen as the host province of the conference because Bulakenyos were able to showcase to the participants the beauty and richness of the province.
Other guest speakers in the two-day conference include DOT Regional Director Carol De Guzman-Uy who gave a report regarding the latest situation of Region III’s tourism; Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Dr. Julie J. Daquiaog which tackled the tourism aspects of the Seal of Good Local Governance; Desiree Duran of Duran Farms who shared about the Best Practices in Farm Tourism; and Clark International Airport Assistant Vice President Darwin L. Cunanan.
ATOCEL is an annual conference that aims to unify the leaders in the field of tourism and to introduce Central Luzon as a main destination in the country. The next ATOCEL Regional Conference is set to be held at the Province of Nueva Ecija.
