CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Daniel R. Fernando signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Anti-Illegal Recruitment Trafficking in Persons (AIRTIP) with the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, League of Municipalities, and OFW Family Circle Federation of Bulacan at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium today.
The said MOA encompasses 1) An intensified AIRTIP seminar; 2) Establishment of a technical working group; 3) Establishment of an OFW Help Desk in every municipality under their respective Public Employment Service Office; and 4) Availability of old programs and/or divergence of all programs from DOLE, OWWA and TESDA in every municipality through a one-stop shop desk.
“We take AIRTIP seriously. Maliban sa pagbababa ng mga seminar, nais po nating tiyakin na AIRTIP free ang Bulacan, na walang Bulakenyong maloloko ng mga illegal recruiter,” Fernando said.
Prior to the MOA signing, the Araw ng Parangal of the Regional Marilag Awards 2021 for Region 3 was also held wherein three women namely Elizabeth Paglinawan from Mariveles, Bataan; Lolita Gattuc from Tarlac and Priscilla Cruz from Norzagaray, Bulacan were awarded as Woman Who Inspires, Woman Who Empowers and Woman Who Makes Change categories respectively and received plaque of recognition and cash incentives from the governor.
“Nasaksihan din natin kung paano nagsakripisyo ang mga babaeng Pilipino sa pagtugon sa suliraning dala ng COVID-19, ang mga frontliner para sa maagap na serbisyo sa mga mamamayan, maging sa ibang bansa. Kami po ay sumasaludo sa inyong mga kababahihan, patuloy sana kayong magbigay ng inspirasyon sa ating mga kapwa Pilipino,” Fernando said.
Moreover, the OWWA also distributed a check amounting to P250,000 worth of goods to OFW Family Circle Brgy. Longos, City of Malolos, Bulacan under the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Pag-unlad ng Samahang OFWs (Tulong PUSO).
Other beneficiaries of checks with varying amounts include 44 individuals for Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program;24 for Tabang OFW; seven for OWWA scholarship; five for OWWA bereavement/medical assistance; and two for Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir’ (SPIMS).
OWWA Deputy Administrator for Reintegration Faustino Sabares III said that he is thankful that Fernando accepted their request for the awarding to be held in Bulacan and for supporting the Balay OFW Project by donating a part of his family’s land that will give a chance to OFWs to own a house.
Meanwhile, the PGB through the Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office also awarded the Dakilang Filipina PESO Manager category to Emelita San Agustin from Guiguinto; Laarni de Leon of Bustos; Maricris Co from Calumpit; Josefina Geslani from the City of Meycauayan; Miriam Balboa from Marilao; Alma Buhain of Plaridel; Regina Go from Pulilan and Elvie Cruz of Santa Maria while Vilma Santos from Balagtas was also recognized for OFW Family Circle President category. All of them received certificates of recognition and cash incentives.
Marilag Award is a recognition given for the feat and achievements of women migrant workers and women employees of OWWA. ###
