CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) emphasized the importance of ‘4K’ or ‘Kamalayan sa Kahandaan Katumbas ay Kaligtasan’ during the launching of programs and activities in observance of National Disaster Resiliency Month held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city recently.
PDRRMO Head Felicisima Mungcal said the program aims to intensify disaster preparedness in the province and to conduct trainings about resiliency during calamities.
“Nakikiusap kami sa inyo na lagi nating tatandaan ang 4K sa Disaster Risk Reduction, Kamalayan sa Kahandaan Katumbas ay Kaligtasan. Isang buwan po natin isasagawa ang mga pagsasanay sa first aid, water search and rescue at iba pa upang patuloy pang tumaas ang kamalayan at dagdag kaalaman ng ating mga kalalawigan at ng buong sambayanang Pilipino na rin sa paghahanda sa kalamidad,” Mungcal said.
The month-long program includes attendance to 8th Water Search and Rescue (WaSaR) Simulation Exercise on July 5 to 7at Pantabangan Dam, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija; distribution of rescue tools and equipment at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium; and the announcement of 2nd quarter raffle draw winners of the “Ang Bote Mo Kaligtasan Ko Buong Taon na Ito” Project on July 10.
Several trainings are also lined up including Ambulance Management and Mass Casualty Incident Training on July 10-14 at Malolos Resort Club Royale; Basic Incident Command System Training on July 11-13 at SBMA Freeport Zone, Olongapo City; and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Training on July 16-26 at PEO Compound, Brgy. Pinaugan, Province of Tarlac.4
Further, other activities include earthquake drills in the municipalities of Calumpit and Hagonoy from July 18-25 in collaboration with Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc.; the 7th Bulacan Rescuelympics to be held at the Bulacan Sports Complex on July 18; the 5-day Advance Refresher Course on First Aid on July 19-25 to be held at Malolos Resort Club Royale and at the office of the Philippine Red Cross-Bulacan Chapter; and Basic Life Support-Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Olympics to be held at Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on July 27-28.
For the whole month of July, the PDRRMO will have a province wide distribution of DRRM Books and Climate Change Handbooks in Public Elementary and High Schools.
The celebration is in accordance to Executive Order No. 29 s. 2017 or “Renaming the National Disaster Consciousness Month to National Disaster Resilience Month and Shifting its Focus from Disaster Awareness Building to Disaster Resilience”.
