CITY OF MALOLOS – In preparation for the conduct of mass swabbing in the province, Governor Daniel R. Fernando leads the briefing and inspection of the swabbing facilities at the ‘We Heal As One’ Center located at the Philippine Arena Complex, Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan yesterday.
Mass swabbing facilities at the Philippine Arena will start to operate on Wednesday that will initially cater to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seafarers.
According to Fernando, the ‘We Heal As One’ Center that consists of 6 tents, each with 16 testing booths, will be the counterpart of the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC) at the Bulacan Medical Center.
Also, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways, medical personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) will oversee the operations at the Philippine Arena together with the personnel hired by the Provincial Government of Bulacan.
Fernando was among the very first local chief executives to appeal to the Department of Health to expedite the availability of swabbing facilities in the various impacted regions and emphasized that improving testing capacity will greatly help our fight against COVID-19.
“Kailangan natin ng mas mabilis na aksyon. Every second counts in this fight. Mass testing would give local governments a clearer picture of the extent of the infections in their jurisdiction and enable them to respond accordingly.” he emphasized.
Fernando extends his gratitude to the people and organizations who worked hard to turn the Philippine Arena into a COVID-19 facility to help the Provincial Government of Bulacan in addressing the perils of the virus.
“Salamat po sa lahat ng nanguna at nagsikap na maisaayos ang pasilidad dito sa Philippine Arena. Kasama po ninyo ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa maagap na pagtugon sa ating nagkakaisang laban sa COVID-19. Konting tiis po mga kalalawigan ko, at samahan natin ng mataimtin na panalangin,” the governor said.
