Bulacan gov wants a ‘fire-safe’ Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando underscored that he wanted to have a ‘fire-safe’ province as the Bulakenyos joined the observance of Fire Prevention Month this March with the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa!”.

He said that intensive information dissemination of the do’s and don’ts as well as being proactive and being involved in activities that help increase the awareness of Bulakenyos with regard to fire prevention are just some of the helpful ways to achieve this.

Provincial Fire Director, Fire Supt. Vilma R. Tuscano also highlighted the importance of having a fire escape plan.

Among the activities included in the month’s observance are motorcade along Mc Arthur Highway led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Bureau of Fire Protection that started from Calumpit to the City of Meycauayan then to the City of Malolos held last March 1, fire safety inspection in all government buildings located at the Capitol Compound, and distribution of “Mga Payong Pangkaligtasan at Pag-iingat sa Sunog” leaflets and flyers and installation of Fire Prevention Month tarpaulins.

The PDRRMO and BFP will also hold two virtual activities via Zoom application: Audio-Visual Presentation Making Contest for Fire Safety Practices and Readiness to be participated by various barangays and business establishments in the province on the second week of March while the awarding is on March 31 and Virtual Interactive Training on Inspection, Prevention and Control for COVID-19 and Fire Safety on the third week of March.

Based on the Fire Incidents Report of the BFP, Bulacan has recorded 37 fire incidents from January to February this year, which is lower compared to last year which is 80. ###
