CITY OF MALOLOS – It is a special non-working holiday in the province of Bulacan tomorrow, Friday January 16, 2015.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the declaration is in accordance to Proclamation 945 which was signed on the 13th day of January 2015 by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr. to give honor and support to the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis in the Philippines on January15 to 19, 2015.
“I courteously requested Malacañang for the said declaration in view of the aforementioned Papal State Visit not only to address the imminent traffic congestion but also to allow the Bulakenyos to participate in the commensurate activities on occasion thereof,” Alvarado said.
During His Apostolic Visit to the Philippines, His Holiness Pope Francis will bring his message of “mercy and compassion” to at least 11 different venues in the province of Leyte and Metro Manila.
Bulacan is the gateway from the north to the National Capital Region and so the Provincial Government of Bulacan advises all the Bulakenyos to stay at home if they are not heading to the venues of the Pope’s visit to avoid heavy traffic congestion.
The 78-year-old Pope Francis is an inspiration to commuters because he is a humble commuter himself.
