CITY OF MALOLOS- Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado called on the management of Angat Dam to properly handle the water on the reservoir and to preserve and conserve the national wealth during a press conference held at the VIP Lounge of the Provincial Government of Bulacan in this city this afternoon.
He called upon the unfairness of how the farmers were deprived of irrigation water during summer but supplied with excessive water because of dam releases during rainy season.
The governor also pointed out the irony of being the host of the dam but even the Dumagats that lives on the premises of the dam are not getting water and electricity from the reservoir and are depending on rain for drinking water and solar power.
“We will call the attention ng mga namamahala riyan. We will bring the issue again to them.
In connection with these, the governor enumerated plans that may resolve the water crisis including the possible construction of a sub-reservoir under Ipo Dam and the holding of water in Umiray, Quezon.
Nevertheless, Alvarado is positive that the problem with the critical level of Angat Dam will be solved once the rain brought by the Habagat comes, but he is also praying that rains would refill the water of the reservoir but would not incur so much damage to the province.
