Bulacan Day, a non-working holiday

Memorandum GO-072916-94 Pagdedeklara sa ika-15 ng Agosto, 2016 bilang special (non-working) day sa lalawigan ng Bulacan para sa ika-438 Guning Taong Pagkakatatag ng ating lalawigan

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulakenyos will have an ample time to commemorate the 438th Bulacan Foundation Day as August 15 is declared as a special non-working holiday in the province.

The said declaration is based from The New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan Section 27 or “The Provincial Legal Holidays” of Bulacan.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the free day aims to give Bulakenyos more time to reflect, look back and give importance to the efforts of their forefathers in giving them a province that they can call their own.

“Ipinagdiriwang ng marami sa atin ang kaarawan nila, marapat lamang na ipagdiwang din natin ang araw kung kailan isinilang ang Bulacan. Ang lalawigan na nagbibigay tahanan sa atin at naging tahanan ng maraming dakilang Bulakenyo,” Alvarado said.

The celebration will begin with a holy mass at 7:30 in the morning in front of the Provincial Capitol building in this city to be followed by a flag raising ceremony, oath to the national flag and wreathe laying ceremony at the monument of Marcelo H. Del Pilar.

Senator Richard Gordon is expected to grace the event as the guest speaker.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jaime Veneracion, a writer, professor and historian is also invited to the event to give a brief talk about the province’s founding history.

Also, the celebration marks the opening of Singkaban Festival with the theme “Singkaban Festival: Lalawigan ay Ikarangal, Kasaysayan, Sining at Kultura ay Itanghal Tungo sa Kaunlaran”.
