CITY OF MALOLOS – Celebrating the new wave of women empowerment, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa Kababaihan ng Bulacan (PKKB) recognized outstanding Bulakenyas in the Gawad Medalyang Ginto 2015 at the Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, yesterday in this city.
Teresita Nadura from the town of Calumpit was hailed as the Natatanging Babae 2015 and received trophy and cash incentive worth P20,000.
Aside from her, five other women were recognized in the celebration of women’s achievements including Marieta Rodrigo from San Ildefonso as Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan, Leonida De Ocampo from San Rafael as Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal, Jacqueline Gan from Plaridel as Huwarang Kabataang Babae sa Pamumuno, Bienvenida Valcos from San Rafael as Matagumpay na Ginang ng OFW, and the Matagumpay na Konsehong Pambayan para sa Kababaihan of Bustos under the sectoral awards category.
Winners received cash incentives, trophies and emergency whistles with necklace.
Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado congratulated the winners and said that it became more evident that women of the new generation continues to contribute to the nation’s progress through their worthy achievements and advocacies that inspires younger generation of Bulakenya.
“Kahanga-hanga ang ipinakitang pagpupunyagi ng mga kababaihan kaya’t nakamit nila ang tagumpay sa kanilang mga napiling larangan. Batid natin na patuloy silang nagsusumikap na magbigay inspirasyon sa makabagong henerasyon at marapat lamang bigyan ang kanilang kontribusyon sa pag-unlad ng lalawigan at ng buong bansa,” Alvarado said.
Prior to this, Eva Fajardo, chairman of the PKKB said that winners from 42 nominees strictly undergone three levels of screening that includes table validation, personal interview and field validation.
She also added that women of the new generation should be recognized and acknowledged for their exemplary achievements and leadership in promoting gender equality and women empowerment.
The said awards ceremony is in line with the observance of the National Women’s Month in accordance with Proclamation No. 224 and 227 and the Women’s Month in Bulacan that was set in 1996 through Executive Order No. 96-07 and Board Resolution No. 215.
