Bulacan celebrates heritage month with cultural showcase and Patis Tesoro Exhibit
CITY OF MALOLOS – The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc. (FHFI), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office (PHACTO), and Palihang Hagonoy, proudly showcased ‘BalagtaSayAwit ng Bulacan 2025 at Eksibit: Patis Tesoro’s Creation’ that took place at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, Hiyas ng Bulacan Cultural Center here on Monday.
NCCA Deputy Executive Director Bernan Joseph R. Corpuz, representative of NCCA President Victorino Mapa Manalo, said the country’s heritage is not merely a reflection of the past, but it is a living entity that influences the present and paves the way for future generation. He added that these efforts aim to deepen the understanding on local traditions as well as support heritage empowerment.
“We would like to commend the Filipino Heritage Festival Incorporated for bringing heritage closer to the people through exhibitions, performances, lectures, and community events throughout the country. This year, we come together to honor a rich and diverse cultural legacy. We reflect on the profound stories, traditions, and values that define us people,” Corpuz said.
Meanwhile, Founding Chairman of Palihang Hagonoy Crispin De Luna said that the cultural showcase has the desire to revive tradition and cultural elements. He also believes that this effort has the potential to become part of their legacy, something meaningful that can be left behind to future generations of Bulakenyos.
“Maipagmamalaki po na Bulacan ang pinaka maituturing na moog ng panulaang tagalog. Ang BalagtaSayAwit ay tungkong pagtatanghal ng panulaan, katutubong sayaw at kundiman sa pangangasiwa ng Palihang Hagonoy kung saan tayo ang tumatayong pang artistikong direktor,” De Luna said.
A unique blend of literature, dance, and timeless Filipino creations like Patis Tesoro’s Creation (10 Gowns of Paris), which were presented in Paris, also highlighted Bulacan’s rich cultural heritage, along with Sinauna Muebles from Plaridel, a curated collection of antique Filipino furniture pieces.
PHACTO Department Head (OIC) May Arlene DG. Torres said that “BalagtaSayAwit ng Bulacan 2025” is part of the nationwide celebration of National Heritage Month, aiming to foster greater appreciation of Filipino artistry, craftsmanship, and historical legacy.
Also present in the event were FHFI President Armita B. Rufino, and students from Bulacan State University, Richwell Colleges, Inc., and Bulacan Polytechnic College. ###
