Bulacan boosts skills development to provide more job opportunities

CITY OF MALOLOS – In a bid to provide more job opportunities for Bulakenyos, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) will conduct a Skills Demo and Livelihood Fair on September 9, 2015 from 8:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon in front of the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

As one of the activities included in the celebration of Singkaban Festival 2015, the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment and Development Office said the activity aims to create awareness on the importance of skills as a tool in acquiring employment.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the PGB is doing its best to give assistance to unemployed Bulakenyos and encourages them to take hold of such opportunity.

“We have been promoting skills trainings in the province, nakasuporta din tayo sa TESDA kasi dito, pagkatapos ng trainings, handa ka na agad magtrabaho. Marami ang hindi nakakakita ng halaga ng mga tech-voc pero marami ang dito nabubuhay kaya kapag may mga ganitong offer, tanggapin natin at ibalita natin sa iba”, Alvarado said.

Among the skills to be demonstrated are food processing, hair cutting, cellphone repair, beads making, massage therapy and waste recycling.

The trainers who will enhance the skills of the participants are from Community Based Trainers Association of Bulacan (CBTAB) and Sagip Kalikasan Dulot ay Kabuhayan (SKDP).

Aside from the skills demo and training, free services such as hair cut, massage therapy, cellphone repair and beads making will also be offered to Bulakenyos.
