Bulacan bags Provincial Excellence Award in the implementation of Solid Waste Management

CITY OF MALOLOS – Setting the gold standard for sustainability, the Province of Bulacan was recently honored for its exemplary solid waste management programs at the 2025 Environmental Summit where it solidifies Bulacan’s reputation as a trailblazer in effective governance and environmental stewardship within Central Luzon.

The Provincial Excellence Award in the Implementation of Solid Waste Management Programs was proudly accepted by Atty. Julius Victor C. Degala, head of the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office on behalf of Governor Daniel R. Fernando.

Degala received the recognition for the province’s innovative strategies, strong community engagement, and consistent leadership in creating a cleaner, greener Bulacan.

This top honor was supported by thorough evaluations and validated monitoring reports from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Region III, which organized the event.

In a remarkable show of collective achievement, several municipalities and cities within Bulacan were also recognized for their best practices in ecological solid waste management, including Guiguinto, Plaridel, Pandi, San Miguel, Paombong, Calumpit, and the Cities of Baliwag, San Jose Del Monte, and Malolos.

The summit, with the theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution,” recognizes local government units and stakeholders that are at the forefront of environmental innovation and best practices.

Bulacan’s continued success proves that when innovation meets collective effort, a sustainable and waste-free future is not just a goal, but a reality. ###
