CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (BFJODA) enjoys a day off from their job of providing safe public transportation and gave way to the “Araw ng Lingkod Lansangan” organized especially for them held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, today.
Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando expressed in behalf of Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado their gratitude to the harmonious relationship between the drivers and operators and the government.
“Salamat po na ‘yung isang araw na dapat ay namamasada kayo ay ibinigay n’yo bilang suporta sa ating pagsasama-sama. Salamat po na bagaman ito ay inyong hanapbuhay ay ginagawa n’yo ito bilang paglilingkod din sa ating mga mamamayan. Hindi po namin kakayanin ‘pag wala kayo kaya magsama-sama po tayong magbigay ng serbisyo sa ating kapwa,” Fernando said.
The vice governor also shared that the day of appreciation for the BFJODA started with a resolution he passed when he was a board member of 2nd District years ago.
As part of the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2016, the event that aims to strengthen the said associations and to inspire them to continue their services in providing safe public transportation every day is also a day where they can enjoy and have a good time.
“Malaking bagay po ito sa aming mga driver na meron kaming isang araw na relaxation, nagkakaroon po kami ng bonding, naiiwasan po ‘yung mga gusot at naririnig ‘yung mga posibleng plano para sa ikagaganda ng samahan,” Nestor Alonzo, BFJODA president said.
Moreover, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Administrator’s Office raffled a number of electric fans, electric irons, rice cookers, 20 cavans of rice, washing machine, refrigerator and a television set. Fernando added P10, 000 that was divided to 20 winners of P500.
For the singing contest dubbed as “JODA Got Talent”, Rodrigo Dela Cruz from Bambang, Bulakan, Bulacan won the first prize out of the 25 contenders and took home P10,000; Mark John Gonzales from the City of Malolos bagged the second place with P5,000 cash prize and Gilbert Macabeo from the City of Meycauayan won third and took home P3,000.
All the remaining contestants received P1,000 consolation prize each.
“Napakalaki pong tulong ng naibibigay ng BFJODA at dito naman po pangalawang beses ko na pong maging champion at malaking tulong ito sa pamilya ko,” dela Cruz said.
Also, all the attendees received a pack of grocery as a souvenir.
