Bereaved families of Bulakenyo fallen heroes receive financial grant from RSA
CITY OF MALOLOS – Business tycoon Mr. Ramon S. Ang of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) extended his help to the families of the five Bulakenyo heroes who perished while trying to save lives during the onslaught of Typhoon Karding last month and gave 2M pesos each family yesterday during their meeting at the SMC Head Office in Mandaluyong.
The SMC president personally handed the checks to the families of Troy Agustin, George Agustin, Marby Bartolome, Jerson Resurreccion, and Narciso Calayag, Jr. and he also offered business start-up packages to each family.
RSA said that he immediately pledged to give assistance to the families upon knowing the tragic accident that happened to the five rescuers from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
However, he also said that it was through the efforts of Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Third District Representative Lorna Silverio to further communicate with SMC and requested for financial support and livelihood assistance to help ease the burden of the families caused by the unexpected demise of their loved ones.
Under SMC’s Community Reselling Program, the families of the five rescuers will each receive a freezer and an initial inventory of assorted Purefoods refrigerated meat and other branded products.
The business tycoon also encouraged the wives of the rescuers to invest their money wisely and to keenly monitor their cash flow because cash on hand can easily be spent.
Meanwhile, Mitchelle Resurreccion, wife of Jerson, tearfully thanked RSA for his assistance and kind words to the five fallen heroes.
“Thank you very much, Mr. Ramon Ang. We didn’t expect this and you gave more than what we can hope for. You have such a very big heart,” the widow said. ###
