CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan urges all barangays to conduct a province wide clean-up drive as part of the declared All Out War against Dengue Campaign on October 23, 2015 at 4:00 in the afternoon.
In the Provincial Assembly on Clean-Up Drive to Combat Dengue held yesterday at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado through Provincial Administrator Eugenio Payongayong reminded everyone to make this clean-up a priority.
“Pag-igihan natin ang paglilinis, sapagkat ito’y para sa ikasasagip ng buhay at para mailayo din tayo sa sakit hindi lamang sa dengue,” Payongayong said.
Further, Alvarado ordered the recently created Barangay Task Force for the Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran or the KKK sa Barangay through EO. No. 2015-05 to help lead the clean up activity.
The task force includes the Barangay Captain, councilors, volunteers, NGOs, representatives from religious groups, Home Owners Association, Academe, youth organization, business sector, market vendors, tourism coordinators and junkshop owners.
The governor also asked every Bulakenyo to conduct search and destroy operations of all potential breeding places of aedes aegypti or the dengue-carrying mosquitoes and remove or drain receptacles containing stagnant water such as used tires, vases, bottles among others.
In addition, Alvarado reminded everyone who will join the clean-up to observe self-protection measures like wearing of long-sleeved shirts and pants, using of mosquito nets and repellants.
The clean-up will start at 8:00 in the morning with massive information drive on environmental control of breeding sites and ways to prevent dengue through fliers distribution.
According to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit as of October 19, there are 6,699 cases of dengue in the province which is 313% higher than 1,620 cases on the same period last year with 15 fatalities recorded.
