As a symbol of hope and unity among Bulakenyos
Bulacan to light up modern inspired Christmas tree
CITY OF MALOLOS – After the struggles that the province has experienced these past months, the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando will officially light up the 35 ft. tall Christmas tree in front of the Capitol building on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 5 pm to instill hope among Bulakenyos.
Inspired by a modern design, the Bulakenyo spirit is still present wherein a large star-shaped lantern made out of singkaban is placed on top of the Christmas tree that symbolizes light and hope after the recent calamities and the current pandemic.
According to Imelda B. Arabe, architect and designer of the Christmas tree, this year’s design is composed of 100 different sizes of colorful Christmas wired balls and 100,000 Christmas lights that will illuminate within the premises in front of the Capitol.
Fernando said that the lighting of the Christmas tree will bring joy and hope to Bulakenyos and will remind them that Christmas is still happening despite the pandemic that the world is facing.
“Sa pag-iilaw ng ating Christmas tree dito sa Kapitolyo, muli nitong ipinapaalala ang diwa ng pagkakaisa nating mga Bulakenyo lalo na sa oras ng krisis at paghihirap. Ito ang magsisilbing liwanag sa kabila ng dagok at dilim ng mga nangyari. Sana ay maging inspirasyon din ito para magbahagi tayo ng biyaya sa kapwa natin na nangangailangan,” the governor said.
Before the official lighting of the Christmas tree, the Bulacan Brass Band will perform at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center and the Provincial History Arts, Culture and Tourism Office will also announce the winners for the Paskong Bulacan Online Song Writing Competition.
