Ariel Bastro, first winner of Bulacan Kwenturismo

CITY OF MALOLOS- The shared story and photo of Ariel Bastro from this city was the weekly winner for the month of July, Food Trip category in the Bulacan Kwenturismo contest, a project of the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO).

His winning photo of a simple food with caption “Ang mga kalutong may kasaysayan ay karamihang makikita sa Bayan ng Bulacan. Kaya masasabing ang Bulacan ay historical food capital ng bansa. Ang mga kaluto na matitikman ay payak, subalit ito nama’y kaakibat ng mga kwentong kumikiliti sa ating isipan. Para bang idinuduyan ka sa mahinahon na alon sa karagatan, maging ang sariwang simoy sa kabukiran tuwing anihan. May mga kaluto gusto ng mga bayani” has garnered 138 heart reactions.

The next winner in the Eco-Tourism category is the Angat Dam, a story of Giesha Marie Mingcay from Valenzuela City, wherein she said that eco-tourism destinations in Bulacan can be considered as a living school. Both Bastro and Mingcay received P500 each as prizes for the weekly winners for the month of July.

Also, Ian Resuello from the City of Meycauayan was hailed the monthly winner for the month of August for Historical Churches and Shrines category.

He received P2,000 and a gift from Gov. Daniel R. Fernando. Resuello said, “Hindi ako turista, wala ring masyadong kwento pero nandito ang puso ko”.

In his photo of the Parish Church of San Francisco of Assisi of Meycauayan, he wrote the story of the said church as one of the oldest parishes in Bulacan where God’s grace and mercy overflows.

Meanwhile, Fernando encourages everyone to join the contest that will run until December 2020 by posting and sharing of photos on their Facebook page with regard to their tourism experience in the province.

According to PHACTO, make sure to also like and follow the Bulacan Tourism FB Page.

Aside from tagging it, the entries should also tag at least 30 FB friends and include the following hashtags at the end of the story: #BulacanKwenturismo (the month of joining); #ItoAngAkingKwento; #DiscoverFunInBulacanAgain and provide the complete name, age and town/city or address if a tourist.

The said contest is open to all Bulakenyos and tourists except the staff of PHACTO.

Interested participants must consider the following: Do a research and be creative; Avoid using harsh or unpleasant words in the story; The story should not be more than 150 words; It is encouraged to use own photos; If the photo to be used is owned by other person, indicate the person’s complete name and avoid cropping or editing of the photo.

Monthly winners from August until December this year will be chosen. Bulacan Kwenturismo is one of the programs included in the celebration of Singkaban Festival 2020. ###
