CITY OF MALOLOS – General Carlito Galvez, Jr., chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and a true blooded Bulakenyo, is expected to grace the commemoration of the 440th Founding Anniversary of Bulacan as the guest speaker on August 15, 2018, 8am, to be held in front of the newly renovated Provincial Capitol Building in this city.
He will join the Bulacan officials headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s employees and thousands of Bulakenyos in the said activity.
The said date being declared as a special non-working holiday in the province, Alvarado believes that Bulakenyos will have an ample time to remember and celebrate the importance of Bulacan Day in their own ways after the program.
“Walang ibang masayang balikan at uwian kundi ang bayan, ang lalawigan na matatawag mong sarili mong tahanan, dahil bahagi ito ng kung sino tayo, Bulakenyo tayo at anak tayo ng dakilang lalawigan ng Bulacan. Walang ibang higit na magtatanggol at magpapaunlad dito kundi tayo,” Alvarado said.
The celebration will begin with a holy mass at 8 am to be followed by a flag raising ceremony, oath to the national flag and wreathe laying ceremony at the monument of Marcelo H. Del Pilar.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jaime Veneracion, a writer, professor and historian, will discuss a research on the date the province was established.
