Indakan sa Kalye street dancers to give life to the streets of Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – Locals and tourists who will flock the streets of this city on September 8, 2017 will get to witness and be mesmerized by the colorful costumes and graceful dances of the best Bulacan street dancers as they compete for the “Indakan sa Kalye” on the opening day of Singkaban Festival with the theme, “Singkaban Festival 2017: Bulacan, babalik-balikan!”.

After the opening program of Singkaban Festival, contingents from different towns and cities of the province will parade from Barasoain Church to the Provincial Government of Bulacan while showcasing Bulacan’s culture, history and traditions through dance.

At 2pm, the showdown of talents featuring local festivities followed by the awarding ceremonies of the winners will take place at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the annual street dancing competition, which is one of the most awaited events during Singkaban Festival, will surely give entertainment and enjoyment to everyone.

“Ang Singkaban Festival, bilang ina ng lahat ng kapistahan sa ating lalawigan, ay tiyak na dadayuhin dahil sa taglay nitong sigla, saya at kulay. Sa pamamagitan ng isang buwang pagdiriwang na ito, maipakikilala natin na hindi lamang tayo bayan na tigib sa likas na yaman, ngunit bayan rin tayo na may mayamang kultura at mahuhusay na talento,” Alvarado said.

Meanwhile, Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office Head Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz said the grand winner will take home a trophy and P100,000 while the first and second runners up will each receive a trophy and P70,000 and P40,000 cash prizes respectively.

Also, winners of special awards like Best in Costume and Best in Street Dance will receive P5,000 each and in addition, three groups will be given P10,000 as a consolation prize.

Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo is expected to grace the event as the guest of honor.
