Five fallen heroes to receive special tribute from Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS – A special tribute in honor of the five rescuers who died while trying to save lives during the onslaught of super typhoon Karding is set to happen on Friday, September 30, 2022, 3 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.

Dubbed as “Salamat at Paalam… Bayaning Tagapagligtas! Luksang Parangal para sa mga Yumaong Lingkod Bayan” it will be attended by the respective families of the victims, employees of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro, rescuers from different provinces and cities in the country, officials from national and regional agencies including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Office of Civil Defense, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and other guests.

The tribute will also give way for the public to see and utter their prayers, praises and gratitude to the five heroes namely George E. Agustin from Iba O’ Este, Calumpit; Troy Justin P. Agustin from Sta. Rita, Guiguinto; Marby A. Bartolome from Bulihan, City of Malolos; Jerson L. Resurreccion from Catmon, Santa Maria; and Narciso Calayag, Jr. of City of Malolos for the last time.

A mass will be held prior the program which will be followed by showing of AVP, singing of the national anthem, viewing of the remains by PGB officials and VIPs, messages from Fernando and other individuals who wish to give messages of support and assistance.

The fallen heroes will also be awarded with plaques of recognition for their heroic and selfless services.

Bereaved members of the victims’ families will also be given an opportunity to give their responses or messages of gratitude and appreciation.

According to their co-workers in PDRRMO, the said responders were seasoned and well-trained rescuers. They have done plentiful rescue operations in and outside the province. But as faith would have it, no amount of knowledge, skills and preparedness will spare anyone when accidents happen. ###
