CITY OF MALOLOS – “What we fought for in the last election is an honor to our democracy against the politics of money and the forces of powerful sect.”

This is the statement of Governor Daniel R. Fernando during his speech at the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held at the grounds of Barasoain Church in this city yesterday.

Fernando believed that the commemoration’s theme for this year, “Kalayaan 2022: Rise Towards the Challenge of A New Beginning”, becomes more meaningful a month after the national and local elections.

Fernando said that elections are a legacy of our independence, and every citizen, through their sacred right to vote, is a partaker in the creation of government and building of a country.

The second termer governor also thanked those who supported him and his running mate Vice Governor-elect Alexis Castro.

The event in Barasoain Church today is simultaneous with the Independence Day rites led by President Rodrigo Duterte at Rizal Park, City of Manila. ###
