CITY OF MALOLOS – Eighty-five Bulakenyos are now part of the labor force after they were hired on the spot in the Job and Livelihood Fair 2019 held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city one day before the Labor Day celebration.
Based on the records of the Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office, 54 of them are women while 31 are men.
A total of 56 employers or companies joined the yearly job fair wherein 46 were local businesses and 10 were overseas jobs that offer work in the different fields like production, food and beverage, construction and medical workers, IT, call center, sales, and accounting among others.
The said job fair is a joint effort of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), PYSPESO, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed his gratitude to the companies who participated in the job fair as well as the agencies who worked hand in hand with the Provincial Government of Bulacan to mount the activity and open opportunities for the Bulakenyos.
“Hangad po ng inyong lingkod na makapagbigay ng hanapbuhay sa ating mga kalalawigan kaya naman patuloy tayo sa paglulunsad ng mga gawaing magbubukas ng oportunidad upang matugunan ito katulad ng job fair na ito kung saan 2,000 trabaho ang hatid ng pamahalaan katuwang ang mga nasyonal na ahensiya,” Alvarado said.
PYSPESO Head Elizabeth Alonzo said that those who will not be hired can undergo a training on entrepreneurship through the help of DTI or become a scholar of TESDA for skills training.
Meanwhile, DOLE distributed grocery items to 70 Bulakenyo beneficiaries of the Pangkabuhayan Starter Kit, a program of the PYSPESO.
