7th PHILSPADA National Para Games hails Pasig City as overall champion

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Philippine National Team of Pasig City emerged as the overall champion among 75 teams during the culminating activity of the 7th Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Sports Association for Differently Abled (PSC-PHILSPADA) National Para Games 2019 held at the Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center in Guiguinto, Bulacan yesterday.

The winning team got a total of 94 medals including 39 golds, 32 silvers and 23 bronzes after four days of competition that earned them their top spot.

Meanwhile, the Province of Pangasinan made it to the second spot with 25 golds, 12 silvers and 14 bronzes followed by Davao City who got 20 golds, 24 silvers and 13 bronzes.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado’s representative, Provincial Administrator Eugenio C. Payongayong, saluted the delegates for their devotion and unquestioned determination and perseverance to stand above and showcase their capabilities and overcome their disabilities.

“Sinasabi ko sa Panginoong Diyos, mapalad ako dahil hindi ako nagkaroon ng ganito pero mas lalo kayong masuwerte sapagkat ginamit kayo ng Diyos para magpalakas ng loob ng maraming tao na kung tingnan ay normal,” the provincial administrator read.

On the other hand, Juanito Mengarini, coach and captain ball of the wheelchair basketball team of Pasig City, encouraged and motivated other differently-abled persons to unleash their hidden talents and participate in such activities.

“Hanapin kung ano ang kakayahan, ‘wag itago sa bahay lang kasi ngayon ‘yung may kapansanan malaki na rin ang nagagawa sa lipunan,” Mengarini said.

The PSC-PHILSPADA National Para Games is an annual tournament for differently-abled athletes from different regions of the country.
