CITY OF MALOLOS -The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando through the Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office opens a total of 586 scholarship slots for Bulakenyos who are qualified to avail free courses through the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
According to Atty. Kenneth Ocampo-Lantin, head of PYSPESO, TESDA allocated a total of P13 million for the said program in the province which includes free training and assessment, starter tool kits and entrepreneurship training from the selected Technical Vocational Institutions in Bulacan.
Interested applicants must be 21 to 59 years of age to qualify wherein Bulakenyos under vulnerable sectors such as displaced/repatriated OFWs, out of school youth, members of Jeepney/Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association, solo parents, persons with disabilities and others will be prioritized.
Upon finishing the program, beneficiaries will gain qualifications from TESDA such as Assemble Electronics Products (Leading to EPAS NC II); Dressmaking NC II; Assembly of Solar Nightlight and Post Lamp; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I; Tile Setting NC II; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I; Pastry Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II); Cake Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II); Prepare and Cook Hot Meals (Leading to Cookery NC II); Carpentry NC II; Plaster Concrete/Masonry Surface (Leading to Masonry NC II) and Bread Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II).
Meanwhile, Fernando emphasized the importance of providing scholarships to Bulakenyos especially in this time of pandemic.
“Dahil tayo ay kasalukuyang nakakaranas ng pandemya, napakalaking bagay na nagkakaroon tayo ng mga scholarship program para sa ating mga kalalawigan. Mabibigyan sila ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng mga kasanayan na magagamit nila sa kanilang paghahanap buhay lalo na ang mga kapwa nating limitado ang pinagkukunan ng pangkabuhayan” the governor said.
Applications are ongoing and will be received at the Governor’s Office and will be forwarded to PYSPESO for STEP referral to TESDA Bulacan. ###
