3,082 Bulakenyos benefit in PMA medical mission
CITY OF MALOLOS – A total of 3,082 Bulakenyos received free medical services during the four-day joint medical and surgical mission of the Philippine Medical Association Medical Mission Foundation of Greater St. Louis from Missouri, United States of America and Provincial Government of Bulacan held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city from January 30 to February 2, 2017.
The delegation of mixed Filipino and American doctors and nurses managed to serve 2,577 out-patients including 596 senior citizens, 1,471 adult and 510 children; 92 were able to avail of the dental services; 183 seek assistance on ophthalmology services; 168 went through minor operations and 62 undergone major operations.
Remembering the saying “Everything we do in ourselves dies with us, but what we do to others remains in his immortal,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado believed that the heartfelt gratitude of the patient-beneficiaries will definitely bounce back to the volunteer doctors through overflowing blessings.
“In this modern period of science and technology, sila ang ginamit ng ating Panginoon upang sa pamamagitan nila ay maiabot ang pagmamahal at upang makatugon sa Kanyang utos na mahalin ang ating kapwa,” Alvarado added.
Moreover, Dr. Necita Roa, President of the PMA medical mission, claimed that it is the foundation’s pleasure to help the less fortunate. She also encouraged everybody to start lending a hand and feel the same way as they do.
“I’ve been doing this for a while now and this is one of the things in my life that gives me the greatest pleasure. It gives me a feeling of fulfillment,” said Dr. Roa.
The Philippine Medical Mission Foundation of Greater St. Louis has been doing free medical mission in the province of Bulacan since 2013. It served 1,850 Bulakenyos in 2013, more or less 2,800 in 2014, 3,314 in 2015 and 2,499 in 2016.
