300 Bikers join Bulacan’s Lakbike Turismo 2019

CITY OF MALOLOS – A total of 300 bikers pedaled together in a non-competitive bike ride around Bulacan as they participate in the Lakbike Turismo 2019 with the theme ‘Discover Fun at Kasaysayan’, which started in front of the Provincial Capitol Building last October 26, 2019 at 6 am.

The 20 km bike ride aims to inspire people to discover the importance of the province’s cultural heritage and national history wherein participants toured at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Museum, Marcelo H. Del Pilar National Shrine, Museo ng Kasaysayang Pampulitika ng Pilipinas (Casa Real), Museo ng Republika 1899 and Builders Warehouse in McArthur Hi-Way, Brgy. Bulihan here for the final route.

Bulacan 4th District Board Member Alex Castro, who biked with the riders, reminded Bulakenyos to patronize and promote Bulacan’s tourist destinations.

“Nakakarating tayo kung saan-saan gaya sa Rizal, pero sana puntahan din natin ang magaganda at makasaysayang lugar sa ating lalawigan,” Castro said.

Special citations were also awarded to outstanding bikers who received plaques, UNILAB bags with Sodium Ascorbate Capsules, UNILAB umbrella, belt bag, Nature Spring Sparkling Water and cash prizes worth P500 each wherein Leanne Briseis B. Cabrera from the City of Malolos received the Early Bird Registrant Award; Dennis Onglao from the town of Plaridel received the Early Bird in Site Award, Felipe M. Cabantog from the City of Malolos, 71 years old, received the Veteran Biker Award and Matthew Rigel T. Caparas from the town of Guiguinto, 8 years old, received the Youngest Biker Award.

Moreover, the TrailSeeker Cycling Club from the City of San Jose del Monte was recognized as the Biggest Delegation with 65 members who also received plaques, cash prizes worth P3,000, UNILAB gift packs and gift certificates from Klir Water Park Resort and Hotel.

Each biker also received medals for finishing the route while lucky participants won raffle prizes such as bicycles, a 32-inch television, tool bags, electric fans, induction cooker, power banks and other exciting prizes.

The activity was made possible through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando via the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office and Provincial Tourism Council of Bulacan.

The Lakbike Turismo 2019 is in accordance with Proclamation No. 798, s. 1991 or “Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as Museums and Galleries Month” that highlights the need to arouse national consciousness and pride in the country’s rich culture and national identity.
