Obando wins Best Docu Film in Sineliksik 2017

HISTORICAL DOCU CHAMPS. CITY OF MALOLOS - Obando at ang Sayaw ng Pananampalataya documentary of the Cristobal siblings bagged the Best Documentary Film during the first “Sineliksik: Bulacan Docu Fest 2017 Saliksik at Salaysay ng Kasaysayan ng Bayan Ko! Awards Night” held at Cinema 1, SM City Baliwag, Tuesday night.

The said documentary film produced and directed by Ronald Joseph Cristobal with sisters Ma. Jenelle Jacinto and Ma. Lynette Francesca Cristobal circled the story with the history of the three patron saints of Obando namely Santa Clara (Clare of Assisi), San Pascual (Paschal Baylon), and Nuestra Señora de Salambáo (Our Lady of Salambao) celebrated every May 17, 18 and 19 respectively.

“Mula bata ako, nakita ko na kung gaano kayaman ang kultura ng bayan namin pero napansin ko iilan lang ang gumagawa ng research tungkol dito at masayang masaya kami dahil nakuha namin ang title. Iniaalay ko ‘to sa tatlo naming pintakasi. Salamat sa lahat ng naniwala sa kakayahan namin,” Cristobal said.

Other awardees were Meycauayan: Ikaw ang Una-Best in Research; Guiguinto’s Lihim ng Inilibing na Ilog-Best in Cinematography wherein both took home P20,000 and trophies. The Special Award for Advocacy was awarded to Pulilan’s Ang Naglalahong Kaharian ni Haring Kalabaw and Special Jury Prize was given to Yaman ng Hagonoy, both received P10,000 prize and trophies.

“More than the prize, ang gusto talaga naming mga kabataang boluntaryo ng Guiguinto Scholars Association ay makapag-produce ng something na mapapakinabangan ng mga kabataan,” Joselito Cunanan, director of Guiguinto’s Lihim ng Inilibing na Ilog, said.

On behalf of Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Provincial Administrator Eugenio Payongayong congratulated all who joined and said that for him, there are all history champions.

“Kailangang lumaganap ang ganitong talent, kung ganito ang pinagkakaabalahan ng mga kabataan, wala ng magiging puwang ang bisyo. Ang ginawa n’yo para sa lalawigan ay napakalaking bagay,” Payongayong said.

Other documentary films who made it to the top ten and received P5,000 and certificate of participation each were Malolos Unang Kaganapan sa Malolos, San Rafael sa Gitna ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas, Baliwag sa Diwa’t Puso ng Bayan, Bustos 100 ka na ba? and Plaridel’s Quingua Saan Nagmula?

Dr. Eliseo dela Cruz, head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office, said that the activity aims to elevate the knowledge and awareness of Bulakenyos about their local history thus producing a visual material ready for presentation from time to time.

Among the personalities who graced the event were Bulacan Tourism Council President Allan Tengco, Senior Curator Jose Ruel Paguiligan of Museo Republika 1899 of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Mayor Ferdie Estrella of Baliwag and Mayor Maria Rosario Montejo of Pulilan among others.
