Provincial Public Health Office
Public health is a core element of governments’ attempts to improve and promote the health and welfare of their citizens.  Complementing the development and improvement of hospital care delivery, the Provincial Government has valued likewise the development of an effective public health care infrastructure.
OBJECTIVES
  • To ensure the provision and delivery of health services within the framework of the provincial government's general policies and plans.
  • To strengthen partnership with all sectors including providers of health goods and services for collaboration in ensuring access to health care.
  • To create awareness on the community towards adoption of desired health behavior.
MANDATE
The Office shall be primarily responsible for the formulation, planning, implementation, and coordination of policies and programs in the field of health. The primary function of the Office is the promotion, protection, preservation or restoration of the health of the people through ensuring the provision and delivery of health services and through the encouragement of providers of health goods and services. 
FUNCTIONS
  1. Formulate and implement a provincial health plan within the framework of the government's general policies and plans;
  2. Present proposals to appropriate authorities on issues which have health implications;
  3. Provide for health programs, services, facilities and other requirements as may be needed, subject to availability of funds and administrative rules and regulations;
  4. Coordinate or collaborate with, and assist local government units, communities, agencies and other stakeholders in activities related to health;
  5. Enforce all laws, rules and regulations in the field of health, as a shared responsibility with the local government units;
  6. Collect, analyze and disseminate statistical and other relevant information on the health situation in the province, and require the reporting of such information from appropriate sources;
  7. Propagate health information and educate the population on important health, medical and environmental matters which have health implications;
  8. Conduct training in support of office priorities, programs and activities;
  9. Issue orders and regulations concerning the implementation of established health policies;
  10. Perform such other functions as may be provided by law.
