DoH allocates 857 wheelchairs to Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS - In line with the observance of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, the Provincial Health Office-Public Health distributed 857 wheelchairs from the Department of Health (DoH) during the first Monday Flag Ceremony held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Monday morning.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the wheelchairs will be allocated per municipality which will be distributed to different Rural Health Units (RHU), public hospitals, and health centers.

PHO-PH distributed a total number of 561 wheelchairs to 21 towns and three cities of Bulacan including 69 in RHUs and 495 in Barangay Health Stations.

There were 68 wheelchairs distributed to the provincial hospitals such as Bulacan Medical Center, Baliwag District Hospital, San Miguel District Hospital, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital, Gregorio H. del Pilar Hospital, Emilio G. Perez District Hospital, Calumpit District Hospital, and Plaridel Community Hospital.

Moreover, 12 wheelchairs were allocated to community hospitals including Bustos Community Hospital, Ospital ng Guiguinto, Norzagaray Community Hospital and Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose Del Monte.

Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, head of the PHO-PH, said that Office for Persons with Disability (PWD) and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs received 24 wheelchairs each.

“Tulong na rin sa mga matatanda na nagre-request na makatanggap ng wheelchair,” added Gomez.
The governor added that the remaining 32 wheelchairs will be given to indigents requesting from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
